SCAM ALERT!!!

There is a recent scam doing rounds which is targeting Telkom Customers. Our Investigations show that the scammers are pretending to be the Telkom Broadband Accounting department. In the email, the scammers are requesting customers to click on a link in hopes to secure personal details.

NB: Telkom we will not ask for your personal, sensitive information over email or pins to your personal accounts, either on email or telephonically.

Despite mimicking the Telkom official template, you can spot that it is a phishing mail. Here is how you can tell:

  • The email address it was sent from is NOT a Telkom address
  • It has a general greeting "Dear Customer" – Telkom mails will use your names
  • It has a dubious link – when you hover over the link "Statements & Invoice" you can clearly see that the domain is NOT a Telkom domain
  • It has a scare tactic – scammers always try to not give you room to apply your mind by tapping into your emotions, in this case they are trying to scare you by mentioning that your contract will be terminated

Telkom urges its customers to always keep in mind that at Telkom we will not ask for your personal sensitive information over email. The rule of thumb is that if you are not sure, consult.

To report any acts or suspected acts of fraud, corruption, theft and irregular conduct , email abuse@telkomsa.net or contact our #Vulumlomo | Speak Up hotline on 0800 124 000

SCAM ALERT! Telkom Subscription Fake Email/WhatsApp

If you have received an email/WhatsApp regarding the cancellation of your Telkom subscriptions, please note that this message is fraudulent, and we urge you to not respond to such emails or click on any links.

It is important to take note of any fraudulent or suspicious emails where cybercriminals claim to be representing Telkom. To spot a fake email, be on the lookout for the following.

  • It has a general greeting "Dear Subscriber" – Telkom mails will include your names.
  • It has a dubious link – when you hover over the link you can see that the domain is not a Telkom domain.
  • It has questionable grammatical flaws – this is the easiest way to know if an email is legit or not, by scrutinising the grammar.

If you receive any suspicious or fraudulent emails, you can report them by sending an email to abuse@telkomsa.net
